During the early morning hours of Thursday, Oct. 28, several decorative shrubs were dug up and then stolen from the property at 1141 Post Road East, in Westport, police said.
Lieutenant David Wolf, of the Westport Police, said the investigating officer was able to follow a trail of dirt from the above address to an apartment complex located at 1177 Post Road East.
A number of the stolen plants were reportedly found outside of Lynn Sclafani, age 59, apartment, Wolf said.
Additionally, there was surveillance footage that purportedly showed Sclafani removing the plants from the ground, police said.
A warrant was issued for her arrest and on Sunday, Nov. 21, Sclafani turned herself in at the Westport Police Department.
Per the warrant, she was charged with larceny and criminal mischief.
Sclafani was released after posting a $3,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned at Stamford Superior Court on Wednesday, Dec. 1.
